"And I Love Basketball"

I told you basketball was a whole other story with our relationship and really it is....you wouldn't think that there is much I could post about Matt, I and basketball but oh there is plenty...

One of the first times we hung out I was over at the guys house and what happened to be on, the first Jazz game of the season. Well folks they seemed to be playing the wrong team for us to start out a healthy relationship. They were playing the Denver Nuggets, my personal favorite team. Yes I know all you Utahans(or whatever you are) are a little angry right now but let me explain myself. I am from Sheridan Wyoming, born and raised, as you might know Wyoming doesn't quite have professional sports teams so my town always roots for Colorado, which includes the Denver Nuggets. Yes I know I've lived in Utah for 4 years so I should have converted to the Jazz and I have slightly. I like the Jazz, but when they are playing the Nuggets I just can't cheer for them.

So there I was sitting with all the guys while they were screaming at the top of their lungs at the Jazz, and I may have let it slip that I was a Nuggets fan!! Big mistake! I was shunned from the start! I'm sure Matt had to rethink every single situation once he found out that I was cheering against his team and for a team that he pretty much hates. But oh who won that night....NUGGETS!

Being the nice boyfriend he was(now he's just an amazing fiance) he agreed to take me to my first professional basketball game and it turns out that I picked Jazz vs. Nuggets. Me being the nice girlfriend I tried to be, bought him a Jazz jersey for his birthday so he could wear it to the game. He informed me if he even heared a cheer or a peep for the Denver Nuggets that I was going to be dangled off the railing. Oh how I wish I had had a Nuggets jersey at the time but I was too scared he would dump me if I had worn one. So I played it safe!

Oh did I mention the Nuggets won that game too! Well a while went by and here comes another Jazz Nuggets game and I decided that we should probably go to that one too. By this time I had a pretty good hold on the relationship and the team rivalry could begin. I made sure to find a Nuggets jersey that I could wear to the game to counteract his Jazz jersey that I knew he would be wearing! Oh the looks we got. The old man at the door that took our tickets just kept looking back and forth at us and shaking his head. Finally he said, "Now how does this work out." I just looked at him and said, "Let's not talk about it." Oh I had the funnest time cheering for the Nuggets and being the only one for miles that was doing so!! Ends up when I finally support my team we actually lose but oh well it was fun getting Matt all riled up!

We have had plenty good times watching and enjoying basketball and a bit of friendly competition between our teams and which one is better. In the end, Matt being the most wonderful man ever game me the greatest Valentines present of all time! My very own jersey...

Dating Here and There

So I promise our relationship didn't go from meeting(which happened in fall 2009 unlike what i said in my last post which was 2010 which hasn't even happened yet) to engaged. We did some dating here and there too! I can't really give you details of every single date we did along the way but I can give ya a few!

So, this didn't even happen when we were actually together but this was towards the begining of it all when I was still trying to reel him in! We took a little trip to a concert of a man known as: Bob Dylan. The thing was...I didn't really know Bobs music that well I just knew that Matt loved music and that it was a concert that I knew he wouldn't pass up so I told him we should take a trip down the Salt Lake and go to the concert! It worked. We went and it was so much fun! First off I had a drunk man that was my best friend, I was mocking the way he was dancing and he just thought I was dancing with him so he continued to get closer and closer to me. The next part may sound pathetic, but its me so its a given that I'm a little bit of a cheese wad, but we discovered that we were perfect size for eachother because Matt can stand right behind me and put his arms around me and his chin rests right on my head, which most people would just consider that as Matt being tall and me being short but we tend to think different! We had a lot of fun!! We were kinda gross and sweaty afterward but here is a picture of that night!

The first time he actually asked me on a date was to go to the movie "Where the Wild Things Are." Which was really cute cause I think I had been telling him that I wanted to go to it for like a week and he actually picked up on it and took me! I actually love going with other couple so I invited my roommate to find a dat and come along with us. Which I found out later that Matt kinda got annoyed that I would always invite other couples to go out with us...ooopps! So we went out and ate at Beehive Grill. We had time to spare so I thought it would be a great idea to go read the book before we went and saw the movie so that is exactly what we did. Went to Borders and I sat everyone on the carpet and I read Where the Wild Things Are out loud! Then we went to the movie which I loved and no one else did!
One of our favorites....BOWLING! Well it's not really Matt's favorite when I beat him, which happens quite often(sorry Matt)! We use to always go bowling!! There was also one night that we went with some friends ice skating which was a blast until Matt went and hurt himself! Well...I actually might have had something to do with that part! We were with 4 other couples and all of us were trying different things. We decided that we could do a lift cause you know we are profesh at ice skating, so Matt lifted me and then...we fell and I'm pretty sure my blade sliced his finger...there was blood...it was gross!

Oh there is plenty more and there is one that just needs its own seperate post and that is when we went to the basketball games but that will be soon to come! I hope everyone enjoys reading these as much as I like writing them!!

Where It Began

Accounting?? It all started in accounting! Yeah I know what you are thinking, how can something so good start in something so bad, well that is what I was thinking. Well the truth is that I, Molly, failed accounting back in my sophomore year of college. So thinking I could do better I randomly decided this last fall semester that I would try it again.
Well I just slumped into class everday and sat in the second row on the left side...you know how you sit in the same spot everyday you go to that class...well thats what I would do. I'd look around to see my options and people watch a little bit. I didn't have a very good range of site cause I sat a bit too close to the front. Well one day I pulled a 180 look and there sat this hunk in the back row, sorry Brandon not you, but Matt. I wondered to myself how I never noticed this kid before in this class because he was definitaly the best looking guy in that class!
It was time to make my move. I couldn't just continue sitting in that same spot the whole time! I had to tak the iniciative. I had to come up with a reason too! I couldn't just randomly all the sudden sit in the way back row that only really had three spots! So one day I decided to just go sit up there and make the excuse that I was tired that day and I needed to sit in the back row just in case I fell asleep. It worked. I was in!
Didn't know that the guy that I just had to go sit by and meet was going to be my future husband! I started to actually get ready for the day from then on out. If you know me you know that I could just get out of bed, throw some clothes on, put my hair up and go to school. Well once I started sitting up there I'd do the normal girl routine, shower, makeup, actually take time to pick something cute out, blow dry and straighten my hair, all of it. Man it was hard work but I guess it paid off. Matt actually admitted that he noticed that I would actually get ready for class! Whoops!! Ha!
I ended up sitting up there everyday from then on out. At first it was me, Brandon, then Matt. Matt and I would kinda flirt even though Brandon was in the middle of us(sorry Brandon). One day I showed up and Brandon was sitting in the end spot and the seat next to Matt was open. I got a bit giddy, I would say like a 3rd grade girl, maybe 4th, but from then on out I don't know how much of accounting was actually learned during class. I was such a horrible distraction to Matt. I would talk nonstop, laugh, joke, poor guy had no chance in that class!
Little Matt didn't really do anything to make our relationship but don't worry I was on top of it. I had to do it all. I pulled the whole, oh I don't know how to do this we should study...that worked. Then it went to the, well maybe we should hang out other then in class....that worked. Oh but then he asked me out to our first date, so eventually he got the drift.
Even before we were sort of dating, I had a few guys that I was hanging out with and anytime I would talk about them to my roommates I would have little nicknames for them, there was rock climbing boyfriend, bearded boyfriend, old boyfriend, then my favorite accounting boyfriend. I even went to general conference a few weekends before we started hanging out and I showed my mom his picture and told her that he was going to be mine. Yeah if I have my mind set, I follow through. Call it what you want, maybe just a bit stubborn, but whatever it is it worked and I couldn't be happier that it did.
P.S. I actually passed accounting!
